Terms and Conditions

 

The following paragraphs contain the general terms and conditions under which Student Storage UK is engaged in the movement, transportation and storage of personal items including, but not limited to, boxes, suitcases and packages within the United Kingdom and Internationally and jointly through interchange with its affiliates. Student Storage UK reserves the right to amend any portion of these terms and conditions of service at any time.

1. STORAGE SERVICES. Storage Services shall include the collection, transportation, storage and return of the Customer's possessions. The Customer shall present pre-packed personal goods to Student Storage UK at the time of collection. Student Storage UK shall transport these goods to an appropriate storage facility. Student Storage UK will return the goods to the Customer at a date agreed by Student Storage UK and the Customer.

2. PRICING. Pricing for the services shall be those agreed to in advance between the Customer and Student Storage UK. Current prices can be found using the Get a Quote form on the Student Storage UK website. The pricing may change if the size of the order differs from the original quote. If we have to pay parking charges or there are delays or other events outside our reasonable control which increase the cost or resources required to complete the work the price may change. The minimum chargeable duration is 4 weeks. Medium sized boxes provided by Student Storage UK are charged at just £1 per box per week, rates for short term storage customers (1-4 weeks) may vary. Other items, including customers own boxes, may be charged at a higher rate. 

3. VENDORS/AGENTS. Student Storage UK reserves the right to use vendors and other agents in performing the services for the Customer. The Customer acknowledges the use of these parties and the fact that the Customer has no contractual relationship with these parties.

4. FREE BOXES AND PACKING MATERIALS. Upon placing a reservation for storage with Student Storage UK the customer will receive free boxes and packing materials if necessary. These are the medium sized boxes, as per the Get a Quote form. Any unused boxes must be returned, otherwise charged at £5 per box

5. BOOKING CONFIRMATION DEADLINE. The Customer must confirm their booking details and finalise the pick-up address, pick-up date, and number of items at least 1 working day before the pick-up date.

6. PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF ADDRESSES. The Customer shall provide an address for delivery and collection of packing materials and the customer's belongings. The drop-off address shall be provided at least 1 working day in advance of the required pick-up and/or drop-off date. The addresses used must be normal public street addresses with a building number/name and flat number, where applicable. Students living in gated communities, halls of residence, or other managed accommodation must provide the reception/lodge address for deliveries, pick-ups and drop-offs. The cost of missed collections/deliveries resulting from non-adherence to the above conditions will be met by The Customer.

7. COLLECTIONS. Student Storage UK will arrange for collection of the Customer's possessions on the date and at the address agreed upon by the Customer and Student Storage UK during booking. Collection shall take place at any time on this date. The customer must ensure that either the Customer or the Customer's representative is available at the address to present the items to our courier during these hours. Failed collections are chargeable at a rate of £25. A minimum of 2 working days notice is required to reschedule a collection. Collections cancelled / re-arranged without 2 working days notice will be charged at the same rate as a failed collection.

8. DELIVERY AFTER STORAGE. Student Storage UK will arrange for the return of the
Customer's possessions on the date and to the address agreed upon by the Customer and Student Storage UK during booking. Delivery shall take place at any time on this date. A minimum of 7 working days notice is required to arrange re-delivery, subject to availability. The Customer must ensure that either the Customer or the Customer's representative is available at the address to receive the items from our courier during these hours. If the delivery is to take place in the customers' absence, written notification is required at least 2 working days in advance. Failed deliveries are chargeable at a rate of £25 plus £2 per item. A minimum of 2 working days notice is required to reschedule a delivery. Deliveries cancelled without 2 working days notice will be charged at the same rate as a failed delivery. Self / Third Party collections can be arranged with a minimum of 7 working days notice.

8b.RELOCATION SERVICES. As well as local re-delivery services, we also provide relocation services to different cites/countries, the cost of these services are dependent on a number of factors including the location and the type of delivery, i.e single or multi drop.

8c.APPARTMENT COLLECTIONS & DELIVERIES. For collections and deliveries to premises without a functional lift; prior notice is required and an additional charge of £2 per item per floor, will be incurred. For larger items, ie. furniture, extra costs will be incurred.

9. PROHIBITED STORAGE ITEMS
There are certain items that we do not accept for storage. Please do not pack these items into your suitcases and/or boxes. The list of prohibited items is as follows:
• Items with intangible value, such as jewelry and collectibles.
• Currency.
• Liquids.
• Cleaning supplies
• Illegal substances
• Stolen goods
• Dangerous and/or explosive items
• Firearms and ammunition
• Highly flammable substances, including but not limited to hairspray, lighters, matches, butane gas canisters, aerosols, etc.
• Organic items such as food, plants etc
• Anything that could break and result in a spillage or release of gasses that could damage or otherwise negatively affect other customer's boxes and suitcases.
• Any goods likely to encourage vermin or other pests or to cause infestation or contamination.

10. OVERWEIGHT ITEMS. The weight limit for Customer's suitcases and boxes is 20kg. Individual suitcases and boxes found to exceed this weight may result in the Customer's belongings not being collected by the courier. Resulting re-collections will be charged at a rate of £10 per item. Overweight items that are collected by the courier, but found to be overweight at a later stage may result in the Customer being charged additional fees.

11. SUITCASES. Student Storage UK accepts Customer possessions packed into locked suitcases for storage and shipping services. Customers that present unlocked suitcases for storage waive their rights to Student Storage UK insurance cover of such suitcases and their contents. The size limit for Customer's suitcases is 1.2m maximum length and 6 cubic feet maximum volume. Suitcases found to exceed these dimensions may result in the Customer being charged additional fees.

12. BOXES. Student Storage UK accepts Customer's possessions packed into boxes supplied by Student Storage UK. Customers that present non-Student Storage UK boxes for storage, waive their rights to Student Storage UK insurance cover of such suitcases and their contents. Additionally, the courier may refuse to accept non Student Storage UK boxes. This will result in a charge of £10 per item for each subsequent collection attempt, once the Customer's belongings have been packed into suitcases or Student Storage UK boxes.

Student Storage UK reserves to right to open and repack boxes / items that it deems to have broken the terms of the agreement. The cost for repackaging is £10 per box and is charged to the customer

13. CHANGES TO PICK-UP DETAILS. Changes to the pick-up address, pick-up date and number of stored items must be made at least 3 working days before the pick-up date, by contacting Student Storage UK by telephone or via email. Changes made after this date may not be possible.

14. CHANGES TO DROP-OFF DETAILS. Changes to the drop-off address and drop-off date must be made at least 3 working days before the drop-off date, by contacting Student Storage UK by telephone or via email. Changes made after this date may not be possible.

15. CANCELLATIONS. Orders cancelled within a 7 day window prior to collection date, are not subject to a refund. Cancellations made after collection are not possible.

16. ABANDONED ITEMS. If Student Storage UK is unable to return the customers possessions after the allocated storage period has elapsed, due to the customer being uncontactable - or for non-payment - then Student Storage UK reserves the right to dispose of the customers belongings

17. IDENTIFICATION. Provision of photo identification is a necessary condition of booking. Customers are required to provide scanned photo identification for each booking with Student Storage UK.

18. INVENTORY. Customers must provide a full inventory of items to be stored, comprising a list of the items along with their replacement values. Customers failing to provide a full inventory of items to be stored will waive their rights to Student Storage UK insurance cover.

19. LIABILITY FOR LOSS/DAMAGE. The Customer recognizes that Student Storage UK will not be held liable for damage to their belongings after return delivery or shipping has occurred. The Customer recognizes that only loss or damage caused by the negligence of Student Storage UK or its affiliates will be covered by Student Storage UK. Student Storage UK automatically protects each

Student Storage UK protects against loss or damage up to a value of £50. The customer agrees that the declared value of each package is no greater than £50 and that Student Storage UK’s liability is limited to £50 per package/box/suitcase. The customer agrees that Student Storage UK’s liability is limited to £1000 per booking. Student Storage UK recommends the purchase of additional insurance.

Liability Description:

Student Storage UK's liability for storage for damage or loss of the Customer's packages. The liability does not cover:
− Jewelry, coins, and collectables.
− Cash.
− Damage to electronic equipment if there is no evidence of physical damage or breakage to the packaging container.
− Items of intangible value.
− Extremely fragile items (e.g. mirrors/glass).
− Improperly packed items.
− Concealed damage.
− Minor damage to suitcases due to normal handling (including, but not limited to scratches, nicks, & cuts).
− Damages due to natural disasters.

Damaged items must have evidence of physical damage to the exterior packaging, casing or surface of the item. Student Storage UK cannot be held liable for concealed damage to items within a carton, trunk, or other casing without physical damage to the exterior of the package. Student Storage UK cannot be held liable for any damage to electrical items that are not packed within a storage/packaging container.

The Customer acknowledges that they are liable for any damage their storage contents may cause to the property of others when those items are prohibited.

Not withstanding anything to the contrary contained in this Agreement, Student Storage UK's maximum liability for any damage, loss, cost, or expense incurred as a result of any storage by Student Storage UK is limited by the terms included in this Agreement. All insurance coverage is expressly limited to the period in which the Customer's possessions are in the actual care and custody of Student Storage UK and/or its affiliates. Insurance cover ends when the Customer's packages are returned to them.

In the case of damage to packages, any damaged packages must be inspected in the presence of a Student Storage UK representative at the time of delivery (or as soon thereafter as reasonably practicable) to confirm damage. All damaged boxes must be opened at the time of delivery (or as soon thereafter as reasonably practicable), at which time Student Storage UK representative will document the damage. For loss of packages, the Customer must notify Student Storage UK representative of the loss at the time of delivery (or as soon thereafter as reasonably practicable).

Claims for loss of, or damage to, the Customer's property must be filed with Student Storage UK by requesting a claims form from Student Storage UK. Claims shall be deemed waived if not filed within 3 days following return delivery of the damaged package or, in the case of lost items, within 5 days following the scheduled delivery of the missing item. Upon receipt of a completed Claim Form and any required documentation, Student Storage UK will process the claim and issue a formal reply to the Customer within 30 working days of receipt of the Claim Form and documentation. Student Storage UK will pay the lesser of the following claim amounts:

a. The cost of reasonably restoring the property to its condition immediately before storage (applies only in the case of damaged items).
b. The actual replacement value of the property.
c. The total amount of Student Storage UK cover for the package, which is £50.

20. WAIVER. Except as specifically provided in this Agreement, the Customer waives any claims for damage or loss of any article against Student Storage UK and its employees. The Customer expressly releases and holds Student Storage UK, and its agents and employees
harmless from any and all costs of processing any claim or defending any claim arising from
this Agreement.

21. APPLICABLE LAW. The Customer acknowledges that there are no representations, warranties, or Agreements by or between the parties which are not fully set forth herein and no representative of Student Storage UK or Student Storage UK's agents is authorized to make any representations, warranties, or Agreements other than as expressly set forth herein.
Only a written letter signed by the parties may amend this Agreement.

22. ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This Agreement shall be governed, interpreted, and construed according to the law of England and Wales. The Customer agrees that any court action pertaining to this agreement shall be conducted in courts in England.
